In November 2024, Beyond Tech Skills, in partnership with the Rivers State ICT Training Center, hosted a landmark Job-Readiness Program in Port Harcourt. The initiative was designed to close a critical gap in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem: helping young professionals translate technical know-how into workplace success.
Over 150 participants gathered for a full day of learning that went beyond the code. The sessions focused on employability, professional growth, and career readiness, skills often overlooked in traditional training but essential for building sustainable careers in tech.
One of the most impactful moments came from Queen Kelechi Nwaguru, a seasoned product operations and delivery leader. On the main stage, she shared practical strategies for job-search success, CV optimization, and interview preparation.
But she didn’t stop there. Queen also led a mentorship clinic, where participants received one-on-one feedback, personalized job-hunting roadmaps, and actionable next steps. The energy in the room was undeniable, young professionals left not just inspired, but equipped with tangible tools to land their next opportunity.
“This program was designed to complement digital training with the real-world skills young professionals need to thrive,” said [ICT Center Programme Director].
